Winter is always the best time for Amarone - deep, soft, rich wine that envelops you in warmth and comfort.

So we are pleased to have found a delicious Amarone from a tiny, boutique producer that is not just excellent value at £31.99 (as far as we can tell, the cheapest price in the UK) but a superb wine that is ready to drink now.

Located in a quiet, sunny corner of Valpolicella, Adalia farm just 5 hectares of vines. This region is one of the most traditional wine growing areas in Italy, but Adalia are a different concept of winery: young yet authentic, innovative yet affordable.

Entirely organic, the key concept at Adalia is sustainability and closeness to the land and terroir.

We think this shines through in their Amarone. A more modern, bright style, yet still complex and delicious, rich, deep and opulent; it is simply excellent drinking for the money.

Unfortunately, only a little is made and we can offer just a few cases, so make sure you don't miss out!

About the wine

Intense garnet red in the glass. Exceptionally aromatic with notes of sweet cherry, plums, tobacco and sweet spices - like all good Amarone, there's such complexity that there is always something new on the nose whenever you go back to it. On the palate it has a deep sweet core of more cherry and plum fruit along with great intensity and persistence. Well-balanced, full-bodied with elegant tannins, a bright acidity makes this a delight to drink now, although better with some time in a decanter. A bright, modern style of Amarone that is bound to win a legion of fans.

To make this Amarone, the grapes were hand-selected and harvested in the first week of October before being naturally dried for three months.

Once dried, they were destalked and softly pressed before being fermented for a month using indigenous yeasts in stainless steel tanks, where the wine also underwent malolactic fermentation. Finally, the wine was aged for 24 months in 25hl barrels

About the winery

Marinella Camerani is recognised as one of the top-flight producers of Amarone and Valpolicella. She owns both Adalia and the more well-known Corte Sant'Alda winery, both farmed organically in the Lessini Mountains, north east of Verona.

The tiny Adalia estate is found in a corner of the Val di Mezzane, a sunny and well-ventilated area and a small jewel of Valpolicella. It may be just 5 hectares in size but it is 5 hectares that are pushing a different concept of vineyard;  young but authentic, innovative but always in direct contact with nature, in one of the most traditional and austere wine areas of the Italian scene.

The name of the Adalia winery comes from Adalia Bipunctata, a small ladybird with two black spots on its wings. An insect friend of the winemaker, and a formidable hunter of aphids!

About the vineyard

The beautiful valley of Mezzane is located east of Verona and starts from the town of Vago di Lavagno.

The hilly landscape is distinguished by vine cultivation as well as cherries, olives and chestnut trees, from which the Castagnè area takes its name. This is not part of the Classico area, but is a region full of innovation and experimentation.

Thank you for trusting Vivino for your wine orders! In order to ensure that your wine is protected from the elements during transport, Vivino has developed a comprehensive program for temperature controlled shipping:

  • All shipments to Non-West Coast states (CA, OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, NV, AZ, CO, NM) will be sent via temperature controlled truck to the closest regional hub. These facilities, referred to as "gateways", are temperature controlled and located strategically throughout the country.
  • Once a shipment arrives at the gateway*, it will be transferred to UPS or Fedex for the final part of its journey

* Note that ice packs (if ordered) will be added to your package at this time.

All orders placed before 1pm EST on Wednesday will be shipped out on Friday of the same week. All orders placed after this time will be stored in a temperature controlled warehouse and shipped out the following Friday.

Delivery times, therefore, may take 8-14 days from order date, accounting for fulfillment, 4-5 days shipment to the regional hub, and 1-2 days for local delivery.

If you would like a more expeditious delivery option, please select 2-Day or Overnight Shipping.

Tracking information will not be available for your shipment until it reaches the regional hub, due to the fact that the shipment is sent via common (temperature controlled) carrier and there is no individual tracking number for the package.

You will however receive a confirmation email indicating that your shipment has left the West Coast warehouse and is en route to your closest regional hub. Your order will say "UPS Label Created", but this label will not be scanned until it reaches the regional hub.

Once the shipment reaches the regional hub, you will be able to track your package (likely 4-5 days after shipping date). At this point, the package is en route to your home/office.

  • Your wine can be protected from environmental damage for the entirety of its journey
  • This service is provided to you at no additional cost
