"Sabine Mollard is quietly going about producing some of Chassagne's finest whites at Domaine Marc Morey" Robert Parker Wine Advocate

They don't make a song and dance about it, but for those in the know, Domaine Marc Morey is one of Chassagne-Montrachet's best and Sabine Mollard one of the region's finest young winemakers.

This village white is absolutely classic Chassagne-Montrachet - generous and filled with white stone fruit, citrus and a touch of spice. Elegant and stylish, it is a great example of the excellent 2015 vintage.

Over the last decade, the Domaine's wines seem to have found an extra gear. They are richer and more concentrated, but have not lost their elegance, precision and minerality. Always flattering and delicious in their youth, they still have the capacity to age well - if you can resist...

As always with wines of this quality, we can only offer a very limited amount. We expect this lovely Burgundy to sell out quickly.

About the wine

This is benchmark Chassagne-Montrachet with an appealing creamy texture. Filled with white orchard fruit, with notes of spice, honeysuckle and citrus which are as generous on the nose as they are on the palate. Creamy and succulent, it also has a refreshing vein of minerality that brings freshness and length. Excellent white Burgundy that makes it clear why these wines are so sought after!

Detailed attention is paid to the farming of the vines at the estate and the viticulture is lutte raisonée (literally 'reasoned fight') which means low intervention, no chemical usage unless absolutely necessary and the encouragement of bio-diversity. Yields have been reduced in recent years and the grapes are hand-picked and hand-sorted.

The winemaking under Sabine is strictly traditional. Fermentation takes place using ambient natural yeasts, and battonage is low-key. The wines receive 11 months of elevage in a maximum of 30% new oak barrels before being lightly fined and bottled.

About the winery

Domaine Marc Morey was founded in the 1930s by Fernand Morey, when it was just a couple of hectares in world-famous Chassagne-Montrachet. On Fernand's death in 1944, the Domaine was passed down to his son Marc, who not only gave the Domaine its name, but also set about expanding the property and began bottling himself.

In 1977, Marc's daughter Marie-Josephine and her husband Bernard Mollard took over the family business and grew both the production and reputation of the domaine, making increasingly good wines.

Today the estate is under the control of Sabine Mollard, the grand-daughter of Marc and she has been the winemaker since 2003. The cellars are located under the family home.

About the vineyard

This wine is made from grapes grown across the Domaine as well as with grape must purchased from nearby properties. The soils in Chassagne-Montrachet are typically limestone clay.

For some time, the viticulture at Domaine Marc Morey has been lutte raisonnée; an approach that seeks to reduce chemical treatments in the vineyard by using them in a more focused way and only when completely necessary.

Dense and concentrated, featuring apple, peach, honey, herb and oak spice aromas and flavors. This has come together nicely, showing fine balance and a long, mouthwatering aftertaste."

16.5/20 points - Julia Harding MW
“Bright lemon freshness – pure, zesty fruit, just a touch salty to add complexity. Intense and also creamy on the palate. A bright line of fruit encased in a creamy texture.”

"Pale yellow. Delicate honeysuckle and mineral nose. Quite complex. Touch of butterscotch. Quite corpulent palate with a lot of fat and finesse. Very nice wine." 4.5/5 Stars

"Beautiful palate. Still young with potential. A hint of oak which made a good pairing with barbequed monkfish. Will develop over the coming three years. " 4.0/4 Stars

"Clear pale lemon. Pronounced intensity, oak vanilla, toast, bread, stone and tropical fruits. Dry medium(+) acidity full body, long finish"  5/5 Stars

"Just simply amazing for the price. So full, round and well balanced" 4.5/5 Stars

Thank you for trusting Vivino for your wine orders! In order to ensure that your wine is protected from the elements during transport, Vivino has developed a comprehensive program for temperature controlled shipping:

  • All shipments to Non-West Coast states (CA, OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, NV, AZ, CO, NM) will be sent via temperature controlled truck to the closest regional hub. These facilities, referred to as "gateways", are temperature controlled and located strategically throughout the country.
  • Once a shipment arrives at the gateway*, it will be transferred to UPS or Fedex for the final part of its journey

* Note that ice packs (if ordered) will be added to your package at this time.

All orders placed before 1pm EST on Wednesday will be shipped out on Friday of the same week. All orders placed after this time will be stored in a temperature controlled warehouse and shipped out the following Friday.

Delivery times, therefore, may take 8-14 days from order date, accounting for fulfillment, 4-5 days shipment to the regional hub, and 1-2 days for local delivery.

If you would like a more expeditious delivery option, please select 2-Day or Overnight Shipping.

Tracking information will not be available for your shipment until it reaches the regional hub, due to the fact that the shipment is sent via common (temperature controlled) carrier and there is no individual tracking number for the package.

You will however receive a confirmation email indicating that your shipment has left the West Coast warehouse and is en route to your closest regional hub. Your order will say "UPS Label Created", but this label will not be scanned until it reaches the regional hub.

Once the shipment reaches the regional hub, you will be able to track your package (likely 4-5 days after shipping date). At this point, the package is en route to your home/office.

  • Your wine can be protected from environmental damage for the entirety of its journey
