Montemajor are on a roll with their new wines and this, the first white from this brilliant winery that we've offered, is no exception!

With an excellent 94 points from Luca Maroni, this lovely white is a beguiling mix of ripe peach, fresh herbs with a distinct mineral edge - and superb value at just £11.75!

Made from Greco di Tufo, one of Italy’s finest indigenous white grape varieties, Montemajor have captured the grape’s natural orchard-fruit character in a soft, refreshing mouthful that is hard to resist.

An exclusive to Vivino in the UK and a lovely summer wine, this is yet another triumph from our favourite winemaker, "Super" Mario Ercolino!

About the wine

This very tasty Greco di Tufo is extremely drinkable. Beautifully aromatic on the nose, with notes of lemons, pear, apricot and toasted almonds, there is also a delicate floral, jasmine note that adds complexity. Generous and refreshing, there's more stone fruit on the palate along with a bright acidity and a mouth-watering, persistent finish with a fascinating, almost saline note that leaves you wanting more.

Produced exclusively from Greco di Tufo grapes, the production of this white wine is characterized by a gentle pressing process and the subsequent fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature to ensure that the finished wine retains freshness and aromatic complexity.

About the winery

Montemajor is owned by renowned winemaker 'Super' Mario Ercolino and his wife, Roberta Pirone.

The winery itself is in Campania, but they have been carefully purchasing well-situated vineyards throughout Southern Italy with old vines and great potential.

Mario Ercolino knows how to make good wines and it shows in Montemajor's wines. His parents started the popular Feudi di San Gregorio, which Mario helped to propel to greatness.

About the winemaker

Like Nativ, Montemajor is the brainchild of Mario Ercolino, a winemaker also known in Italy as 'Super Mario'.

He is a winemaker who is something of a surprise to the international wine press mostly due to his quirky methods. Ercolino started as head winemaker at the famous winery Feudi di San Gregorio which achieved worldwide fame . In 2008 he founded the widely acclaimed winery Nativ with some friends and a few years later Montemajor followed.

Ercolino does things his own way - this includes picking grapes 7 to 10 days later than normal harvest, to get extra ripeness and intensity. He is a self-made success achieving multiple awards from among others, Wine Spectator and the leading Italian wine critic Luca Maroni.

Mario's goal is to rank among the top regional winemakers and to make authentic and characterful wines.

TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SHIPPING OVERVIEW

Thank you for trusting Vivino for your wine orders! In order to ensure that your wine is protected from the elements during transport, Vivino has developed a comprehensive program for temperature controlled shipping:

  • All shipments to Non-West Coast states (CA, OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, NV, AZ, CO, NM) will be sent via temperature controlled truck to the closest regional hub. These facilities, referred to as "gateways", are temperature controlled and located strategically throughout the country.
  • Once a shipment arrives at the gateway*, it will be transferred to UPS or Fedex for the final part of its journey

* Note that ice packs (if ordered) will be added to your package at this time.

SHIPPING SCHEDULES FOR TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SHIPMENTS

All orders placed before 1pm EST on Wednesday will be shipped out on Friday of the same week. All orders placed after this time will be stored in a temperature controlled warehouse and shipped out the following Friday.

Delivery times, therefore, may take 8-14 days from order date, accounting for fulfillment, 4-5 days shipment to the regional hub, and 1-2 days for local delivery.

If you would like a more expeditious delivery option, please select 2-Day or Overnight Shipping.

TRACKING INFORMATION

Tracking information will not be available for your shipment until it reaches the regional hub, due to the fact that the shipment is sent via common (temperature controlled) carrier and there is no individual tracking number for the package.

You will however receive a confirmation email indicating that your shipment has left the West Coast warehouse and is en route to your closest regional hub. Your order will say "UPS Label Created", but this label will not be scanned until it reaches the regional hub.

Once the shipment reaches the regional hub, you will be able to track your package (likely 4-5 days after shipping date). At this point, the package is en route to your home/office.

KEY ADVANTAGES OF TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SHIPPING

  • Your wine can be protected from environmental damage for the entirety of its journey
  • This service is provided to you at no additional cost
