No it's not a cheese!

Pecorino - believed to be named after the sheep (pecora) that eat the grapes from the vines - is an ancient Italian variety of white grape that ws bought back from the edge of extinction, reputedly having been found growing wild in a narrow gorge in Italy’s Marche region.

Today, more and more growers are planting this fantastic grape due to its ablity to deliver fresh, citrusy wines with fine mineral, herbal and floral notes.

Increasingly sought after by people fed up with bland, generic Pinot Grigio, Pecorino is establishing itself as one of Italy's great white wines.

This delicious example from great winemakers Bizantini is grown in the wild region of the Abruzzo and is a pitch perfect example of the grape - bright and refreshing with zesty citrus notes along with touches of apricot and peach.

As just £13.49 per bottle this is a brilliant deal that needs to be snapped up while it lasts!

About the wine

Pecorino – native to the Marche and Abruzzo regions of Italy - is as fashionable as it is tasty!

This stunner from Bizantini has a striking straw yellow colour and is full of zesty citrus aromas of lemon and orange. With a bit of air, some tropical fruit and peach notes emerge mingled with herbal touches. The palate is brilliantly fresh with an attractive, creamy apricot and orange zest flavour that is nicely offset with mineral, stony notes. Supremely attractive, this is a great white that suits any occasion.

The wine is unoaked, having been aged in stainless steel for three months.

About the winery

Feudi Bizantini is a young project, started by a group of wine lovers inspired by the great wines of Abruzzo and in particular, the unique qualities of Chieti; a province within Abruzzo.

With the help of innovative techniques, the revival of ancient historical grape varieties and the optimization of existing ones, they have created a series of exciting, high-quality wines that are truly worthwhile to taste.

The estate’s beautiful, modern winery can be found in the medieval town of Crecchio.

About the vineyard

The Bizantini vineyards can be found in the hills of the Chieti province in Abruzzo.

Here the vines are planted in thin soils, rich in limestone, with a light base of clay and sand. The vineyards benefit from the cool air from the sea and mountains and there’s a wide fluctuation in temperature between day and night, allowing the grapes to ripen steadily, develop greater aromatic complexity and retain their freshness.

"Extremely refreshing and nice acidic tension for an unpretentious Pecorino from Abruzzo." 4.0/5 Stars

"What a wine! Crisp citrus on the palate...The palate is complete and has besides the fruit a nice bitterness at the finish which for me characterizes a nice Marche Pecorino. Nice"  3.5/5 Stars

"Considering the price, a very nice wine. A bit of lychee, peach and pear in this, and topped off with a nice bit of minerality. Quite a bit of butter in there too. Right down my street!" 4/5 Stars

Thank you for trusting Vivino for your wine orders! In order to ensure that your wine is protected from the elements during transport, Vivino has developed a comprehensive program for temperature controlled shipping:

  • All shipments to Non-West Coast states (CA, OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, NV, AZ, CO, NM) will be sent via temperature controlled truck to the closest regional hub. These facilities, referred to as "gateways", are temperature controlled and located strategically throughout the country.
  • Once a shipment arrives at the gateway*, it will be transferred to UPS or Fedex for the final part of its journey

* Note that ice packs (if ordered) will be added to your package at this time.

All orders placed before 1pm EST on Wednesday will be shipped out on Friday of the same week. All orders placed after this time will be stored in a temperature controlled warehouse and shipped out the following Friday.

Delivery times, therefore, may take 8-14 days from order date, accounting for fulfillment, 4-5 days shipment to the regional hub, and 1-2 days for local delivery.

If you would like a more expeditious delivery option, please select 2-Day or Overnight Shipping.

Tracking information will not be available for your shipment until it reaches the regional hub, due to the fact that the shipment is sent via common (temperature controlled) carrier and there is no individual tracking number for the package.

You will however receive a confirmation email indicating that your shipment has left the West Coast warehouse and is en route to your closest regional hub. Your order will say "UPS Label Created", but this label will not be scanned until it reaches the regional hub.

Once the shipment reaches the regional hub, you will be able to track your package (likely 4-5 days after shipping date). At this point, the package is en route to your home/office.

  • Your wine can be protected from environmental damage for the entirety of its journey
