"This is one of the most brilliantly run wineries in Australia" Robert Parker

Like all wine-producing countries, Australia doesn't like to see its best wines leave its shores, which is why we are very pleased and extremely lucky to have secured a small parcel of Kilikanoon's Crowhurst Shiraz solely for Vivino customers!

Shipped directly from Kilikanoon, this is their top Barossa Shiraz, crafted exclusively from the estate-owned Crowhurst vineyard in Greenock, well-known as one of the Barossa's top areas.

This hard-to-find Shiraz is one of the Barossa's greats, garnering great scores from the critics and winning devoted fans world-wide.

If you love red wine - and in particular Shiraz - this is a must-try! You will probably never see it again...

About the wine

In the glass, the Crowhurst Reserve is deep red in colour with youthful crimson tints. Impressive aromas of blackcurrant, cocoa, rich chocolate and spicy French oak flavours combine seamlessly on the nose. On the palate, this Shiraz is round, rich and textural in style with a compelling core of black fruits, cocoa and oak spices harmoniously coming together in a thrilling experience and a finish so long it seems to go for minutes! The balance and interwoven flavours in this wine are so extraordinary that although it is a blockbuster, it comes across as having a touch of elegance. This is a must-try for all red wine lovers!

Tiny yielding parcels of old vine Shiraz were handpicked, traditionally vinified and then matured for 28 months in small 100% new French oak casks creating a wine of great varietal strength, poise and ageing potential.

About the winery

Kilikanoon founding father, Mort Mitchell understood that Clare Valley is one of the very best wine grape growing regions of the world with excellent conditions and various sub regions that produce interesting nuances.  Relatively young in the wine world, Kevin Mitchell’s Kilikanoon winery was first established in 1997 with a handful of ancient, neglected vineyards. Humble beginnings perhaps, but Kevin and his team have used their powerful skills to grow the business into one of Australia’s most highly acclaimed estates, and a multiple award-winner.  If you've yet to discover their wines, now is the time!

About the vineyard

Kilikanoon's Crowhurst Shiraz reflects the very pinnacle of their Barossa Valley portfolio and is created from small parcels of hand picked fruit, exclusively selected from the Crowhurst Vineyard in Greenock.

About the winemaker

Think Kilikanoon and the name on everyone’s lips is its illustrious winemaker and proprietor, Kevin Mitchell. Thanks to his father, Mort Mitchell who tended and planted the Golden Hillside vineyards, Kevin grew up in and around the glorious vines of Clare Valley.

In 1997, Kevin Mitchell founded the Kilikanoon winery in a hamlet of Penwortham, determined to create his own vision of a fine wine brand. He has since achieved national and international success and earned the attention and praise of renowned wine critics around the globe.  Kilikanoon, under Kevin’s direction, has won a host of awards and was named James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion 'Winery of the Year' in 2013. In 2014, Kevin Mitchell was inducted into the inaugural Clare Valley Hall of Fame as Winemaker of the Year!

96+ Points - Lisa Perrotti-Brown
"
Very deep purple-black in color and replete with aromas of mocha, dried plums and blackcurrant cordial accented by licorice, spice cake and dried mulberry hints, the full-bodied 2010 Crowhurst Reserve Shiraz is a voluptuously fruited wine that showcases a multi-layered palate of black fruits and spice, is supported by firm, grainy tannins and offer just the right amount of acid to hold through a finish with great persistence."

95 Points - Huon Hooke
"
Very deep purple/red, amazing colour. Concentrated, essency aromas of blackberry and dark plum, cedary oak and floral touches, and tremendous richness on the nose and palate. Fleshy, concentrated, dense and supple, this is a big wine which preserves great softness and velvety texture. Long, long finish. Sweet fruit, great richness of licorice, aniseed and black fruit flavours: just a gloriously hedonistic red."

94 Points - James Halliday
“Deep crimson, purple hue; the bouquet is dark and brooding with mocha, black fruits, fruitcake spice and wet slate aromas; the palate is full bodied, thickly textured and ample tannins roll around the palate like boulders; long and needing time for all pieces to come together."

"Full bodied...A very big wine that could be left for a long time if it were not so tasty."   5/5 Stars

"Oh, WOW! That was my thought, when I took the first smell of this Shiraz. And that feeling continues. The label says that it can be cellared for two decades, but right now it is very delicious! Black in the glass with purple border. Strong fruity aroma of plums and black berries. The palate is just as strong and fruity, with a hint of peppermint and oak notes. A real blockbuster, but at the same time very well balanced...A great Shiraz"  5/5 Stars

TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SHIPPING OVERVIEW

Thank you for trusting Vivino for your wine orders! In order to ensure that your wine is protected from the elements during transport, Vivino has developed a comprehensive program for temperature controlled shipping:

  • All shipments to Non-West Coast states (CA, OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, NV, AZ, CO, NM) will be sent via temperature controlled truck to the closest regional hub. These facilities, referred to as "gateways", are temperature controlled and located strategically throughout the country.
  • Once a shipment arrives at the gateway*, it will be transferred to UPS or Fedex for the final part of its journey

* Note that ice packs (if ordered) will be added to your package at this time.

SHIPPING SCHEDULES FOR TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SHIPMENTS

All orders placed before 1pm EST on Wednesday will be shipped out on Friday of the same week. All orders placed after this time will be stored in a temperature controlled warehouse and shipped out the following Friday.

Delivery times, therefore, may take 8-14 days from order date, accounting for fulfillment, 4-5 days shipment to the regional hub, and 1-2 days for local delivery.

If you would like a more expeditious delivery option, please select 2-Day or Overnight Shipping.

TRACKING INFORMATION

Tracking information will not be available for your shipment until it reaches the regional hub, due to the fact that the shipment is sent via common (temperature controlled) carrier and there is no individual tracking number for the package.

You will however receive a confirmation email indicating that your shipment has left the West Coast warehouse and is en route to your closest regional hub. Your order will say "UPS Label Created", but this label will not be scanned until it reaches the regional hub.

Once the shipment reaches the regional hub, you will be able to track your package (likely 4-5 days after shipping date). At this point, the package is en route to your home/office.

KEY ADVANTAGES OF TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SHIPPING

  • Your wine can be protected from environmental damage for the entirety of its journey
  • This service is provided to you at no additional cost
