Not content with producing some of the finest red Primitivo wines available, the brilliant and innovative Cantine San Marzano have produced this lovely pale rosé!

Like all San Marzano's wines, the Tramari gets fantastic scores from the critics (97/100 from Luca Maroni, its highest yet) and a hatful of medals - and yet still retains brilliant value for money.

At just £10.75 per bottle, it's an absolute steal.

Unusually for the region, this delicious rosé is also made from Primitivo! It's supremely refreshing, with irresistible aromas of cherry and raspberry, it'll have you hooked from first taste and looking for an excuse to open another bottle!

About the wine

A softly coloured rosé with intense aromas of wild cherries and raspberries, combined with an attractive hint of Mediterranean maquis -the local aromatic shrubland. Elegantly styled and slightly off-dry, with a refreshing finish. Great value for money!

To make Tramari, skin contact maceration took place for several hours, followed by a partial drawing off the must. Fermentation took place in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks, preserving the aromatics and the fruit characteristics of the Primitivo variety. Ageing then continued in stainless steel to retain the freshness. This is a very modern wine, made from the Primitivo grape variety, which is an uncommon characteristic for a Salento wine.

About the winery

Located in the southern heel of Italy and sandwiched between the Ionian and Adriatic seasCantine San Marzano was established in 1962 when 19 vine growers decided to come together to create a winery that would allow them to showcase their collective efforts. Through the decades, the cantine has grown significantly and today grapes are sourced from over 1200 growers (some of whom have just the tiniest number of vines but who all play their part).

San Marzano is reputed for its elegant wines, made from Puglia’s distinctive varietals and which reflect both the region’s unique terroir and the passion of the people who farm it.

About the vineyard

The vineyards can be found in and around San Marzano, Salento. This unique region is located in Puglia, in the heart of D.O.P. Primitivo di Manduria. It is a strip of land between two seas: the Ionian Sea and the Adriatic Sea.

The San Marzano Primitivo vineyard is located in Salento, Puglia and is situated at approximately 100 metres above sea level. The area is characterised by high average temperatures and a medium-low rainfall. The vines are planted at a density of 4,500 per hectare. The soft soil layer is clayey and quite thin, with a good presence of rocks, providing good drainage for the vines. Harvesting takes place during the first week of September.

The vineyards and Mediterranean terroir play a fundamental role in the production of the high quality wines of San MarzanoThe climate is extreme with drought, even frost and the fiery local sirocco wind. But with good treatment in the vineyards, this results in highly concentrated grapes with full and elegant wines.

"Here's a bright savory rosato that has an intense nose of Mediterranean scrub, fragrant wild flower, red berry and citron. It's zesty and refreshing, with flavors of crushed raspberry, pink grapefruit and a hint of fennel seed. A saline note marks the close."

TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SHIPPING OVERVIEW

Thank you for trusting Vivino for your wine orders! In order to ensure that your wine is protected from the elements during transport, Vivino has developed a comprehensive program for temperature controlled shipping:

  • All shipments to Non-West Coast states (CA, OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, NV, AZ, CO, NM) will be sent via temperature controlled truck to the closest regional hub. These facilities, referred to as "gateways", are temperature controlled and located strategically throughout the country.
  • Once a shipment arrives at the gateway*, it will be transferred to UPS or Fedex for the final part of its journey

* Note that ice packs (if ordered) will be added to your package at this time.

SHIPPING SCHEDULES FOR TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SHIPMENTS

All orders placed before 1pm EST on Wednesday will be shipped out on Friday of the same week. All orders placed after this time will be stored in a temperature controlled warehouse and shipped out the following Friday.

Delivery times, therefore, may take 8-14 days from order date, accounting for fulfillment, 4-5 days shipment to the regional hub, and 1-2 days for local delivery.

If you would like a more expeditious delivery option, please select 2-Day or Overnight Shipping.

TRACKING INFORMATION

Tracking information will not be available for your shipment until it reaches the regional hub, due to the fact that the shipment is sent via common (temperature controlled) carrier and there is no individual tracking number for the package.

You will however receive a confirmation email indicating that your shipment has left the West Coast warehouse and is en route to your closest regional hub. Your order will say "UPS Label Created", but this label will not be scanned until it reaches the regional hub.

Once the shipment reaches the regional hub, you will be able to track your package (likely 4-5 days after shipping date). At this point, the package is en route to your home/office.
