On offer today for just £10.75, this cracking wine is a juicy, easy-drinking delight!

The Nistri family are Sangiovese specialists and Corte Al Passo is a wine made in the ancient 'Governo’ style; meaning that a small proportion of the grapes are dried before being added to the wine in November - just like Amarone.

The dried grapes are sweet and concentrated and give the wine extra richness and ripeness. It’s a technique that finds favour with lots of wine-lovers who appreciate the generosity and softness of the wines.

Described as "one of the best wines of the year" and awarded 98 points from Luca Maroni, this is an exceptionally rich and intensely fruity wine for a great price.

Don't wait too long to order if you're interested, a wine like this sells fast!

About the wine

Corte Al Passo is a richly flavoured, powerful, intense red wine with strong, sweet flavours of cherry and blackberry, spice and dark chocolate. The wine is round and full in the mouth with a soft, plump texture and smooth tannins. A lovely day-to-day wine with complexity and depth and ripe tannins.

'Governo' is the name that Tuscan winemakers give to the technique of adding a proportion of dried grapes (10% in this case), to the wine. Just as in Amarone and Ripasso wines, this addition gives extra weight, concentration and flavour to the wine.

About ten percent of the grapes are kept separate after the harvest and sun dried, making them very concentrated. When the fermentation of the other grapes comes to an end, the dried ones are added, so that the yeast can feed on new sugars. This is a second fermentation that creates a full wine with soft tannin and acidity.

Tip: This wine is perfect with grilled red meat, such as steak. Open it an hour in advance and serve at 18 ° C.

About the winery

Established in 1865, Casa Vinicola Fratelli Nistri is one of the oldest wineries in Tuscany. The original winery has developed into a real family business, now being led by the fourth and fifth generation of the family.

In recent years, considerable investment has been made in the technology necessary to produce high-quality wines. In addition, oenologist Matteo Bernabei, (son of Franco, one of the most famous winemakers in Italy) acts as consultant here. He aims to make wines that show the soul of the country through the use of indigenous grapes and maximum terroir expression.

in 2006 the winery moved to a new, state-of-the-art cellar in Greve in the heart of Chianti Classico.

About the vineyard

The grapes of the Nistri family grow on a limestone and ferrous shale base and undergo large differences between day and night temperatures. This ensures solid wines with a good structure, lots of flavor and a refreshing acidity.

98 points - Luca Maroni

"Sensations: exceptional richness, this wine reveals itself as dense and full-bodied - the essence of morello cherry pulp, blackberry and grape. A sublime concentration but the taste is soft and supple; very admirable and harmonious... A pure wine, well balanced with hints of spice, the juicy fruit has exceptional expressive power. One of the best red wines of the year, hats off."

TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SHIPPING OVERVIEW

Thank you for trusting Vivino for your wine orders! In order to ensure that your wine is protected from the elements during transport, Vivino has developed a comprehensive program for temperature controlled shipping:

  • All shipments to Non-West Coast states (CA, OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, NV, AZ, CO, NM) will be sent via temperature controlled truck to the closest regional hub. These facilities, referred to as "gateways", are temperature controlled and located strategically throughout the country.
  • Once a shipment arrives at the gateway*, it will be transferred to UPS or Fedex for the final part of its journey

* Note that ice packs (if ordered) will be added to your package at this time.

SHIPPING SCHEDULES FOR TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SHIPMENTS

All orders placed before 1pm EST on Wednesday will be shipped out on Friday of the same week. All orders placed after this time will be stored in a temperature controlled warehouse and shipped out the following Friday.

Delivery times, therefore, may take 8-14 days from order date, accounting for fulfillment, 4-5 days shipment to the regional hub, and 1-2 days for local delivery.

If you would like a more expeditious delivery option, please select 2-Day or Overnight Shipping.

TRACKING INFORMATION

Tracking information will not be available for your shipment until it reaches the regional hub, due to the fact that the shipment is sent via common (temperature controlled) carrier and there is no individual tracking number for the package.

You will however receive a confirmation email indicating that your shipment has left the West Coast warehouse and is en route to your closest regional hub. Your order will say "UPS Label Created", but this label will not be scanned until it reaches the regional hub.

Once the shipment reaches the regional hub, you will be able to track your package (likely 4-5 days after shipping date). At this point, the package is en route to your home/office.

KEY ADVANTAGES OF TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SHIPPING
