Today’s offer is a wonderful Alsace Grand Cru Riesling for only £28.75 – 10% off the UK RRP!

Alsace is one of the world's greatest areas for Riesling and the wine it produces are fruit-driven but with a distinct minerality and spice.

Of the 3 great Grands Crus in the area iof Ribeauville,  the Kirchberg is the one which has the coolest climate and the one that ripens the latest. It produces pure, deep and profound wines with a subtle spice and a fantastic mineral note.

This Kirchberg couldn't be more classic if it tried - and that's exactly what you'd expect from here, one of the world's greatest grapes grown in one of the world's greatest wine regions!

About the wine

A classic Riesling!

This Grand Cru is just starting to show its pedigree with an enticing bouquet full of apricot and peach fruits, exotic flowers and citrus peel and a waxy, honeyed touch. With a delicious full texture on the palate, the wine explodes with a rush of intense, concentrated fruit that is perfectly balanced by a crystalline acidity. The fruit is generous here and it makes the wine superbly attractive -  but despite the rich fruit, this is an elegant, lithe wine with incredible purity and complexity. A stunning drink now, it will only improve over the next 5-8 years!

Jean Sipp has made significant strides in recent years, the wines steadily gaining increased precision and quality. A family-owned domaine, Jean-Guillaume heads up the operation and he’s using all the experience he’s gained in wineries at home and abroad to make excellent wines.

About the winery

Domaine Jean Sipp can be found in the heart of Ribeauvillé in a former stately home that dates from 1416.

Today the property is managed by Jean-Guillaume Sipp who has trained with the likes of Domaine Zind-Humbrecht in Alsace, Olivier Leflaive in Burgundy and Guigal in the Rhône. Under his stewardship the wines have made significant strides, gaining more precision.

About the vineyard

Located at an altitude between 270 and 250 meters above sea level, the Grand Cru Kirchberg de Ribeauvillé is bordered by the town of Ribeauvillé in the south and in the east by the Grand Cru Geisberg and has a south-south west exposure and marl-limestone soils.

Located on a very steep slope, the vineyard receives the maximum amount of sunshine possible and produces superlative riesling.

"
There is something floral and tender, even creamy on the nose. The palate on the one side has a creamy apricot and peach aspect, on the other a totally taut and brisk lemon-lime streak. This makes for tension and interest. This is concentrated and exciting, dry and very, very enjoyable.”

"Great Riesling. Inviting golden colour. Light gout de petrol. Aromas of white fruit, melon, mineral, slate, and of course a slight rest-sweet. Nice long ending. 4.5/5 Stars

"Lovely Riesling with a higher level of minerality than many from the region. Medium finish"  4/5 Stars

"Delicious. Bright acidity with petroleum, lime, and high minerality. Very refreshing.4.5/5 Stars

"Medium intensity on the nose, rubber, smell of old sneakers, peach aromas. Medium bodied, medium acidity, pear, peach, well balanced. Beautiful Riesling. 4/5 Stars

TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SHIPPING OVERVIEW

Thank you for trusting Vivino for your wine orders! In order to ensure that your wine is protected from the elements during transport, Vivino has developed a comprehensive program for temperature controlled shipping:

  • All shipments to Non-West Coast states (CA, OR, WA, ID, MT, WY, NV, AZ, CO, NM) will be sent via temperature controlled truck to the closest regional hub. These facilities, referred to as "gateways", are temperature controlled and located strategically throughout the country.
  • Once a shipment arrives at the gateway*, it will be transferred to UPS or Fedex for the final part of its journey

* Note that ice packs (if ordered) will be added to your package at this time.

SHIPPING SCHEDULES FOR TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SHIPMENTS

All orders placed before 1pm EST on Wednesday will be shipped out on Friday of the same week. All orders placed after this time will be stored in a temperature controlled warehouse and shipped out the following Friday.

Delivery times, therefore, may take 8-14 days from order date, accounting for fulfillment, 4-5 days shipment to the regional hub, and 1-2 days for local delivery.

If you would like a more expeditious delivery option, please select 2-Day or Overnight Shipping.

TRACKING INFORMATION

Tracking information will not be available for your shipment until it reaches the regional hub, due to the fact that the shipment is sent via common (temperature controlled) carrier and there is no individual tracking number for the package.

You will however receive a confirmation email indicating that your shipment has left the West Coast warehouse and is en route to your closest regional hub. Your order will say "UPS Label Created", but this label will not be scanned until it reaches the regional hub.

Once the shipment reaches the regional hub, you will be able to track your package (likely 4-5 days after shipping date). At this point, the package is en route to your home/office.

KEY ADVANTAGES OF TEMPERATURE CONTROLLED SHIPPING

  • Your wine can be protected from environmental damage for the entirety of its journey
  • This service is provided to you at no additional cost
